Jan. 9th, 2006 02:25 pmOhhhh dear.
I start training tonight for my first stint as a Tech Support at a local call centre. I'm not entirely sure what they deal in/what I've signed on for - I've heard/been told ISP support, but in the area I was interviewed in, it sounded like all the techs were giving support for Hewlett Packard cameras. They have 5 different contracts within the building; I guess I'll find out tonight!
You guys are making me very very scared, though. I'm sure it won't be long before I have my own horror stories to contribute. Eep.

(whereas Sysadmins usually chant "down, not across")
In any case, welcome aboard.

3) don't let the caller take control of the call

Date: 2006-01-09 08:41 pm (UTC)If you're actually good, you'll be smacking your cow orkers in notime. You'll be wondering why they bothered training you other than to pay you extra for doing jack and shit. Don't be scared by us - we're your support. This is where we talk about what we'd really tell those lusers if there weren't people listening. And sometimes what we do anyway if we can get away with it.
Welcome aboard :).

If I get "well, you'd be bored doing this job" one more time I'm going to strangle the interviewer.

Which contract did you sign up for?
