Dec. 16th, 2005 07:07 amI love those first calls of the day when they're just idiots.
u=user, m=me
u: Hi, we can't print to any of the printers on the citrix server.
m: ok, what application are you printing from?
u: no idea, it's just our despatch dockets
m: do you know the server name then (hey, if he's telling me it's a citrix server, he might know)?
u: no idea.
m: We need to know either the application or the server, otherwise we can't do anything.
u: let me just check...(comes back in a bit)... nope, no idea.
m: Ok, when you open the program, what icon do you click on?
u: I'm just the manufacturing manager, this is despatch documents, I don't know what they open.
m: let me just put you on hold.
I chat to my colleague who is logging a high priority case regarding citrix printing from *application name*. So I go back to the user.
m: ok, i've just been speaking to my colleague who is logging a high priority case in regards to printing from *application name*. It wouldn't be that, would it?
u: Yeah, it's that (user goes on to give other names for the application, that would've easily told me what he was talking about)
GRRRR - why not just bloody tell me then? He obviously knows it.
