Why do some people go into the labs and just bring one "blank cd" with them and then complain when the cd won't burn files to them? Don't they know that not all cd's in the spindle are good and not all of them will burn files?
For crying out loud.. I've had a spindle of cd's have several cd's that were good for nothing other than drink coasters or shiny frisbees.

Yeah.
You can't stop the progress.

Yesterday they were floppies, now there are cds and soon they'll bring DVDs.

Just one thing for sure - they never learn.

Something like it is quite irrational to rely on a single fd/cd/dvd/flash piece to store a single copy of their work for the last five years :)

Because I *have* to do this...

Bedevere: ...and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped.
Arthur: This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
Lancelot: Look, my liege!
[trumpets]
Arthur: Camelot!
Sir Galahad: Camelot!
Lancelot: Camelot!
Patsy: It's only a model.
Arthur: Shh!
[Arthur turns to the face the knights]
Knights, I bid you welcome to your new home. Let us ride to... CAMELOT!
[cue the music]
Knights of Camelot: [singing]
We're knights of the Round Table, we dance whene'er we're able.
We do routines and chorus scenes with footwork impec-cable,
We dine well here in Camelot, we eat ham and jam and Spam a lot.
We're knights of the Round Table, our shows are for-mi-dable.
But many times we're given rhymes that are quite un-sing-able,
We're opera mad in Camelot, we sing from the diaphragm a lot.
In war we're tough and able, Quite in-de-fa-ti-gable.
Between our quests we sequin vests and impersonate Clark Gable
It's a busy life in Camelot
[solo] I have to push the pram a lot.

Arthur: On second thought, it is a silly place.

CorrectionL the last line should read:

Arthur: On second thought, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

I'm going to one-up your python nerdery with some python pedanticism :

Arthur: Let us not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.

Oh for shame.

Honestly, it depends on the burner. Back in the day I was lucky to get a good burn. Now I don't even bother to verify data most times.
