One of our users just received the following in an email:

"ATTACHMENT LIMIT EXCEEDED

A MIME message exceeded the maximum number of attachments, and has been removed. See your system administrator for further information."

He just forwarded it on to me with the following query: "Please could you send me the attachment to this email? Thanks!"

Yes, because my psychic powers tell me exactly which attachment it was that got stripped and allow me to pull it out of thin air magically and forward it on to you....

*headdesk*

see it as solved. i just forwarded him the attachment.
how i know which one he needs ?
simple!
just attached an virus file named "the attachment you wanted to have.exe" *EG*
ok, joke aside, iam sure such customers think that attachments that have been blocked, sorted out, or got lost somehow else are stored on the ISPs mailserver (sure! they have plenty of space so they can store useless TBs of deleted attachments)

This would be BOFH approved if it set the computer on fire in some manner, or tiggered the remote network card immolation server for that machine. (what, you don't have one??)

Alas, our email server has no such limitations, and people routnely send each other 40+ MB files. Their excuse? they don't know how to use the fricken CD-burner that we have on almost every workstation to transfer large files....
