Email received from a user in response to my response to his support request:

Cool, thank you very much. Chris you have always been very thorough, and timely in your responses. And your expertise is second to none. I just thought you deserved to hear this. I can only imagine the calls you get everyday. And just wanted to let you know that you do a fantastic job. And your attention to each persons situation really gives a feeling of one on one. I have worked with you through the years from various companies and it was always nice to contact you with any questions. It was a great feeling of consistency. Take care and have a great day.

I really do wish I would get something like that. It's few and far between that I even get a thank you some days.

I get things like that maybe about once every three months or so. It's a nice bit of a morale boost when I do.

A professor I helped the other day just brought me a large assorted box of "gourmet" lollipops from See's because I'm a "computer whiz". It's the thought that counts, and it's always nice.

I must be jaded as hell, because when people say stuff like that to me I think, "Eh, whatever. Stop bothering me."

Uhm, wow. Appreciation.

Can I get a defibrilator, please, before you do that again?

kudos like that are great.. and when I get help from internal support (tier 3, 4, etc) that's really exceptional? I remember to jot a note to the appropriate supervisors saying so. Because saying thank you over the phone sometimes isn't enough.

congrats! :)
its always great to read something like that.
since its more usual here, where i live, that you get an 'thank you' when you've done something good, i get such replies at least once a week.
But very seldom there are outstanding replies. due to one reply i got about an year ago, which the customer wrote directly to my Teamleader, i've been anounced as "employee of the month" that was really great feeling.
but the problem with that is that a lot of co-workers get jealous and keep teasing me with that.

I save stuff like that in a file.
Come pay-review time I plonk down 5 pages of praise from the clients.

It works kindoff good to base your salary raises on.
