Management, a month ago:

"There are too many log-out exceptions coming through for processing. From now on, any log-out shorter than ten minutes will come out of your personal time."

Management, today:

"Why the hell has our logout time tripled in the last month?! Our stats look terrible!"

There's a moral in this story, if you look for it hard enough.

UNDER 10 minutes and they take it out of your personal time, yeah that's the way to encourage short breaks. Duhhh..

Yeah they some how need to include how many times people interupt you on the way to the bathroom, smoke break ect. So does that count as break time or actually working?? Since you know the customers do not stop talking once you shut the stall door and do your business. Its like get a clue people.

I'm so tired of the rampant abuse of smoke breaks that I take frequent O2 and H2O breaks. Probably at least one an hour. Usually only for 5-10 minutes each, but of course far more than they say we're supposed to have a day, but let the smokers get away with. Annoys the hell outta me.

When I worked in a knitting mill (before I became the IT Guru I am today *coff*), the smokers were allowed a 5 minute break every hour, but the non-smokers were only allowed their statutory breaks.

My solution was to buy a packet of cigarettes, take out two and throw them away, and carry them around with me. I never smoked one, but I always had them, and always took my five minutes per hour. If anyone walked into the breakroom and found me not smoking, well, I'd just put one out. or I'd forgotten my lighter and was hoping someone would come in with one.

it worked for me.
