Racist posts will not be tolerated. It shouldn't have to be commented on. Even though I've lost a contract or two to overseas out sourcers (I'm not bitter, really) it does not warrant remarks such as those left by [livejournal.com profile] fiercekitty. It is the nature of capitalism, which many of us enjoy the benifits and detractions of.

PS. As far as I know the Dell support center in Canada only supports French, laptops and corperate accounts. You want you support to be of a certain country then buy products where the support is in the country you want it in.

They was looking for someone to support their dell notebook hardware problems, and they were specifically trying to get someone in the US or canada. They complained that the outsourced technical support (I'm assuming in India) would not be able to help them. I don't remember a specific reason being cited other than that they wanted to speak to someone where English was their first language. Frankly I skimmed it so I wasn't paying too much attention to the details. But that's the abridged reader's digest version. Never checked the comments that I'm sure stemmed on it.

I'm one of those that would require an English speaking person, as I am deaf, and any type of accent makes it basically impossible to deal with that person.

Doesn't matter though, as Dell's email support always tells me to call them, even after I point out I'm deaf and can't do that.

So they posted ON this journal to get dell canadian tech support? Wow, that must be an exceedingly stupid person, as it says right on the front of the LJ userinfo this is NOT a tech support LJ. Supid bitch.

Most of those people are trained with extensive speech classes to be linguistically native sounding for either US or UK.

wtf? They weren't racist comments at all. If the agents had been of british nationality, they would have been british incompetent agents.

the SEVERAL Dell support centres in Canada support everything Dell makes, actually, and mostly to US customers. I used to work in one of the call centres that supported Dell (and a number of other OEMs), which is how I know.

I think the deletion was maybe a little hasty. Anyone who resets my bios to the default factory settings without first telling me that's what he's doing first (giving me the opportunity to look through and see what personalised tweaks I've made) deserves my wrath.

I suppose qualifying someone by their nationality is what prompted the deletion, but if I had said someone was a british cockup, is that also racist? would that have gotten my post deleted? how about this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/techsupport/811670.html) poster - had they referred to the woman as an "impatient, offensive, American bitch", would THEIR post have gotten deleted?

The fact remains that I've never gotten competent support from agents in call centres in India, and have always gotten competent, friendly, fast, and helpful support from agents in Canada or the USA.

Actually, I posted to ask if anyone knew how to get to a certain call centre through the dell phone system, since I know it's possible with HP, having worked in one of their call centres.

I am not exceedingly stupid. I work in the IT department of a major publishing firm. I am simply tired of being recited a script time after time, and in my experience, Canadian/American agents are more capable and competent.

Believe me, if I could replace my nic, screen, and power supply myself, I would.

But thanks for calling me a stupid bitch before actually knowing what went on.

Regardless of what you believe was racist or not, the simple fact remains that you posted to the WRONG community.

Since you didn't read this community's info, I will sum up:

This is a community for Tech Support workers to commiserate and bitch about users --- how they won't follow directions and lack basic common sense, for example.

You're looking for REAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT on a computer issue. We don't provide that here.

Try [livejournal.com profile] tech_support.

ahh.

I wonder if they are aware that english IS the native language in india.
Or that almost half of the poeple in computer science classes here in the US (or at least in MY classes) are foerign in some way (often from india or pakistan).

I'm always flabergasted when people are so obviously intolerant and they seem to think that's just fine.

Oh, I know what went on now. Can I call you a stupid bitch after the fact? That'd make my day.

Also, it would be nice if you'd cry a bit. And maybe get us some video of that.

But I'm a bad person.

Unfortunately, they're script reading right now. I had one ask for my order ID, when about 5 lines below his request was the order ID, cut and pasted off the website.

Story:
I bought a 2405fpw in August. After the expected delivery date came and went, i checked order status. Cancelled, absolutely no notification. So I bought another one on the 8th, for the 1600 dollars. On the 9th, Dell dropped the price to 11xx with tax.

Can't get a price match if there's no way to communicate with them.

Well, it obviously says in the front page of this journal that it is for comical and relaxation purposes ONLY. So yes, you ARE a stupid bitch for posting a question like that. And IF you in fact do work for the IT department, then I pity that company, becuse they hired and incompetant dunderhead who doesn't know how to replace the nic, screen, and power supply him/herself. If you don't have "technical training" then its called wing it and fiddle around with things yourself and make it LOOK like you know what you're doing. Either you'll fix it, or break it and order a new one. And yes, the term "stupid bitch" is used without regards to gender, just so you know i'm being politically correct. I mean, come on, you "work" in the "IT" department? As what, fetching coffee?

And as far as your actual "question" of wanting to know how to get to a different department of the dell tech support, its easy. Get on the phone with someone, if you don't like them, tell them. Then ask to be transferred elsewhere. If they don't do it, ask for a supervisor, and get them to do it. Anyone who works in an IT department knows that trick.

Stupid. Bitch.

I'm not looking for tech support, sweetie. I know what the problems are. I know how to fix them. But I can't just go out and buy a Dell power supply, or a nic, or a new LCD, and send them the bill, now can I? I have to deal with their agents, now don't I? And that's hard to do, isn't it, when the majority of their agents are utterly incompetent, isn't it?

I was looking for a way to bypass the incompetent agents and get to someone actually competent. That is ALL. Crikey. This place is worse than [livejournal.com profile] debate.

I'm sorry, I forgot one thing.

It is indeed a moot point as to the potential disposition of the post referring to someone as in "impatient offensive bitch," since no racial or national epithet was included. One might ask what would have happened if Germany won WWII; it doesn't matter since it never happened.

I think that we've all seen that impatient, offensive bitches need no race or nationality - they come in all sizes, colors and shapes.
