Racist posts
Sep. 14th, 2005 11:57 amRacist posts will not be tolerated. It shouldn't have to be commented on. Even though I've lost a contract or two to overseas out sourcers (I'm not bitter, really) it does not warrant remarks such as those left by
fiercekitty. It is the nature of capitalism, which many of us enjoy the benifits and detractions of.
PS. As far as I know the Dell support center in Canada only supports French, laptops and corperate accounts. You want you support to be of a certain country then buy products where the support is in the country you want it in.

Date: 2005-09-14 04:44 pm (UTC)Doesn't matter though, as Dell's email support always tells me to call them, even after I point out I'm deaf and can't do that.

Date: 2005-09-14 04:49 pm (UTC)the SEVERAL Dell support centres in Canada support everything Dell makes, actually, and mostly to US customers. I used to work in one of the call centres that supported Dell (and a number of other OEMs), which is how I know.
I think the deletion was maybe a little hasty. Anyone who resets my bios to the default factory settings without first telling me that's what he's doing first (giving me the opportunity to look through and see what personalised tweaks I've made) deserves my wrath.
I suppose qualifying someone by their nationality is what prompted the deletion, but if I had said someone was a british cockup, is that also racist? would that have gotten my post deleted? how about this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/techsupport/811670.html) poster - had they referred to the woman as an "impatient, offensive, American bitch", would THEIR post have gotten deleted?
The fact remains that I've never gotten competent support from agents in call centres in India, and have always gotten competent, friendly, fast, and helpful support from agents in Canada or the USA.

Date: 2005-09-14 04:54 pm (UTC)I am not exceedingly stupid. I work in the IT department of a major publishing firm. I am simply tired of being recited a script time after time, and in my experience, Canadian/American agents are more capable and competent.
Believe me, if I could replace my nic, screen, and power supply myself, I would.
But thanks for calling me a stupid bitch before actually knowing what went on.

Date: 2005-09-14 04:58 pm (UTC)Since you didn't read this community's info, I will sum up:
This is a community for Tech Support workers to commiserate and bitch about users --- how they won't follow directions and lack basic common sense, for example.
You're looking for REAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT on a computer issue. We don't provide that here.

Date: 2005-09-14 05:03 pm (UTC)I wonder if they are aware that english IS the native language in india.
Or that almost half of the poeple in computer science classes here in the US (or at least in MY classes) are foerign in some way (often from india or pakistan).
I'm always flabergasted when people are so obviously intolerant and they seem to think that's just fine.

Date: 2005-09-14 05:04 pm (UTC)Asking you how you would like it in reversed positions is pointless (you just wouldn't understand) so I'm not going to bother.

But I'm a bad person.

Date: 2005-09-14 05:05 pm (UTC)Story:
I bought a 2405fpw in August. After the expected delivery date came and went, i checked order status. Cancelled, absolutely no notification. So I bought another one on the 8th, for the 1600 dollars. On the 9th, Dell dropped the price to 11xx with tax.
Can't get a price match if there's no way to communicate with them.

Date: 2005-09-14 05:06 pm (UTC)And as far as your actual "question" of wanting to know how to get to a different department of the dell tech support, its easy. Get on the phone with someone, if you don't like them, tell them. Then ask to be transferred elsewhere. If they don't do it, ask for a supervisor, and get them to do it. Anyone who works in an IT department knows that trick.
Stupid. Bitch.

Date: 2005-09-14 05:12 pm (UTC)It is indeed a moot point as to the potential disposition of the post referring to someone as in "impatient offensive bitch," since no racial or national epithet was included. One might ask what would have happened if Germany won WWII; it doesn't matter since it never happened.
I think that we've all seen that impatient, offensive bitches need no race or nationality - they come in all sizes, colors and shapes.
