I just talked to one of the best, most patient, and intelligent customers I've EVER spoken to. He had a route issue, which means we had to do EVERYTHING under the sun to make sure it wasn't the system, the modem, or the physical setup. We moved the modem between jacks, we switched phones, we checked network settings, we set the system up for PPPoE. We set the modem up for PPPoE. We did it all, and through it all he was just pleasant and agreeable, even when I had to put him on hold to convince the 'level 3' that I did it all and did it right. We made the trouble ticket and hopefully he'll be fixed. I made a point to tell him he's one of the best customers I've had at the end of the call.

One of the easiest hours ever.

I still feel like I'm going to snap and scream at the next person who says "It was all working BEFORE!" in a petulant little stubborn child voice, but at least the day is looking up.

It really is nice to get those types of customers every once in a while just to remind you that all of them aren't complete schmucks.

You're gonna pay for saying that.

Probably by doing just that.

I love calls like that. I always hang up the phone and say, OUT LOUD, "THANK YOU! IF EVERYONE WERE AS PLEASANT TO WORK WITH AS YOU WERE, I WOULD NEVER WANT TO LEAVE THIS JOB!"

It really is astonishing how pleasant the job can be on those rare occasions.
