well I tried to avoid posting here, 'cause I thought I could handle it myself, but now I'm just confused.
I used to be able to see the Security tab in file permissions (for NTFS permissions) but now I can't. I haven't changed any settings, and when I double checked, the "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)" checkbox under Folder Options was de-selected.
I'm running Windows XP Professional, and the problem applies to the system drive, network mapped drives, and other storage devices. I checked Group Policies and Services, etc. through MMC, but didn't see anything. Perhaps I missed something.
Oh one last thing. I'm connected to a college network, but access through my dorm room does not require logging into a domain or workgroup (so this isn't due to a policy I inherited)
Suggestions?
