From what I can gather, those are very old iBooks that have been beat to hell by high school students, and most are being disposed of because they have defective logic boards, hard drives, or displays. Remember, public schools don't get a lot of money. They never toss equipment unless it's no longer usable.

They want to kill each other over what will end up being a defective laptop? Go right ahead.

I can imagine that.

I toured a school district's data centre last weekend. they have... issues with the A/C and power. they've got the phone system (a huge 15U monster in it's own fuggin rack), the AS/400 and associated gear, a tape library, two large ATM switches, and some 60 high density rackmount servers all crammed into this 10 by 15 room. Serious heat zones in that place...

High tech stuff, but lord help em if the A/C plant quits...

At least on the bright side, they won't be getting any Windows viruses or spyware...
