[identity profile] redqueenmeg.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] techrecovery

The wait in our queue is eleven minutes. The wait in the desktop queue is nonexistent. So what do people choose to get their DESKTOP passwords reset? They choose the email queue, and wait eleven minutes on hold.

ME:  What do you want the password to be? (I don't have time to screw around with resetting and having him reset himself.)
HIM:  Cougar.
ME:  OK, it always needs to be at least eight characters.
HIM:  Summer.
ME:  (Not even gracing this with a response.)
HIM:  (Counting under his breath.) One, two, three, four, five, six.  Summer1, then.
ME:  That is seven characters.
HIM:  Summer12.

My SOP for domain resets is to change the password to something stupid and super easy (usually CHANGEME or the like) and flag the account for a force user to change password.

Can't wait for AD to roll out. I won't have to use the terminal server to get to where I can use PC Anywhere to conect to the PDC to fix shit like this...

Not able as in no privledges, or not able as in lack of brainpower?

So, wait, you're saying tech support is a phone-sex line for masochists? :P

Only if you mean the masochists are on the RECEIVING end of the call.

(Some days, I think that's the only reason I took this job... Pure, unadulterated masochism.)

I don't know how many cythereas there are out there, but the name will probably always mean pr0n to me.

Ahahahaha, fair enough. It's another name for Aphrodite, goddess of Love, Sex, and all things along those lines.

It's an alias I picked up several years back; used it as my character's name on a MUD. :)

Ohno, MUD! You're one of those.

If it were, you'd think it'd be much more exciting than it really is.

First off, I love your icon. ♥ PotterPuffs.

Second, very kind of you to give them an option. ^^; Personally, I'd set them all to something like abcd1234 and let them be the ones responsible if they can't change it later.

hehe, thank you. :) I made it, as long as by "made," we mean took some of SnapeSnogger's art (http://snapesnogger.deviantart.com) and turned it into an LJ icon. (I think she has a McG one, too?) I'm all about her art. :)

See, but that's not a real word. I'm fond of floccinaucinihilipilification, which is. :D

How about the full chemical term for one of the more complex organic molecules? They've usually got a stupendous amount of repetition in them, making them not only tedious to type and prone to typos, but hard to remember as well.

Bahahahaha.
Me: It needs to be between 6 and 8 characters, both letters and numbers
Cust: *insert stupidly long password that'd be well in excess of 15 characters*
Me: No, between 6 and 8 characters (you retard)
