A short story by way of introduction
Apr. 11th, 2003 02:03 pmHi all. I just joined your lovely little community. Thought I'd introduce myself with a story:
In corporate tech support (where I work), there is what I like to call the LTB ("last touched by") rule. Basically, if you are the last tech to work on a computer, then anything and everything that goes wrong with it after that it is entirely your fault... even months later.
Example: I installed a memory upgrade on a user's pc. I got this call the next day:
User: "You installed some memory in my computer yesterday, and now I'm missing data from Excel."
Me: "You're missing a spreadsheet?"
User: "No, I have my spreadsheet. But some of the data I entered on it last week is missing."
Obviously, the data was on the DIMM I replaced.

All the evidence I need....
Date: 2003-04-11 12:44 pm (UTC)You know those signs they have by the entrance of roller coasters? "You must be this tall to ride"?
How about "You must be this smart" stickers near the computers.
That person you just gave an example of wouldn't make it through the front doors if it were my store....
