This does not make any sense to me AT ALL. We require a 15-day notice for cancellation of all DSL services to avoid being charged for the next month. So you have to place your cancellation order 15 days BEFORE your billing date. And it's not an "advance" notice.. your service will be shut up within a few days. So you pay for a full month, but only get to use a little more than half of it. To me, this is fucked up. And our billing dept doesn't do ANY prorating.

Also, I'm probably going to get in trouble for trying to reverse this guys cancellation order to give him his remaining 5 days of service.

Dude had a 1 year contract, started August 2 of 2004. He's already made his 12 payments. But apparently he can't have his service shut off ON August 2nd (he's moving).. he has to do it 15 days ahead of time. Doesn't that constitute US breaking the 1 year contract?

That's how I would interpret it. Your company's accounting system is not your customer's problem.

Sounds resonable to me. The way our system is setup here in Sweden is that we rent the copperwire from the DSLMax/SLAM to the customers office.

We pay monthly a fee for this wireacess.

Thus if someone wants to move we don't want to pay for their copparwire a full month when we can't bill the client.

Thus the policy of having a period ahead of time to cancel it.

There are probably more things going on behind in your company that nescessitates this policy.
