had a customer that wanted to connect his Cel Phone to his Fax machine to recive faxes on his Cel.. he actually found an adaptor to connect his fax machine to his Cel phone..

Told him i dont think that would work because the fax would need to connect to a standard phoneline and not a cell line

Odd. I'd've thought that a fax would work over a cell phone, just not well. My phone actually has an option to set a seperate fax number for it (as well as data and line 1/2), and it's technically possible to send faxes from the SMS section (unfortuantly Vodafone don't let me do that).

i think you can actually do this, as most cell phones have options for setting fax baud rates and port speeds and such.

I've had this call too, we don't support it but if the customer has the hardware to do it (namely a rj connector) it should work.

my cell phone (blackberry 7510) has an option to plug a TTY into it.
