Ugh, I hate useless users and virus emails...

My suport base is being hit with a butt=load of mytob.ev virus mails, and the users are stupid enough to open the attachments.
Not to mantion that most of them are getting the "Your email account has been suspended" from an email address like "admin@domain.com"
We use Notes and a Domino server system, you 'tards! internal mails will never be @anything!
And if your account has been disabled - how are you accessing it now??

We have something similar going on
it's a virus called sober and it's retarded how many people
can't figure out that's it's probably "not" a good idea to download
this attatchment.

::shakes head::

I know! we are getting TONS of people coming into tech support chat about the "suspension of their accounts."

They open up the attachment.

Then they complain that Outlook Express isn't working and Norton shuts down because of opening said attachment.

This is one woman's "complaint" against the spoofs that are generating and she asked for a supe - the tech told her that the majority of our customers would know it was spam and wouldn't open it. Yup....that comment caused her to ask for a supe in addition to calling tech support to ask for one there on the phone as well:

CA Luser: What they also think is that ISP is not on the ball because they haven't been ((((PROACTIVE)))) in servicing their clients and letting them know what's going on before someone ((((who might NOT know)))) responds to it! You guys need to take some lessons from eBay and get on the ball with this stuff and AT LEAST respond to it when a customer sends it to you!!!!!!!!! What a pathetic answer "Tech's Name here".

Then she asked for a supe:

CA Luser: Who's your supervisor?
CA Luser: waiting.
CA Luser: still waiting

Then what she said to the supe about these emails:

CA Luser: I think it should be stressed to "Tech's Name here" that not EVERYBODY is tech savvy and would know NOT to open the attachment and give the information out - my 85 year old parents for one and so he needs to broaden his perspective on ISP's clientele and coat his answers with some diplomacy and compassion.

The above comment just shows me that her 85 year old parents must be one for scams and vulnerable to anything.

Why can't some just use their brains instead of blaming everyone else but themselves?

I hate California Customers. Grrrr...they rank up there with Florida.

Customers like that are the *reason* viruses spread like wildfire. In a more perfect world, I'd take a customer like that, give them a refund on their remaining balance, and put up a block on their phone/cable lines so they could never get to the internet from home again. Like drunk drivers, they make it more hazardous for the rest of us.

I'm in California and most of my callers are pretty cool. I'm here in San Diego. People in San Diego are awesome but anyone north of S.D....look out! They are evil, and have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO! That's why I'm relieved when I get one from S.D.

We're getting hit with those fake "account suspension" emails here, too. Luckily our users know what an email from us looks like. We don't randomly captitalize the first letter of ever third word. We don't sign them "Ua.edu support team," etc...

Everyday I read this stories and am glad I don't work for an ISP, heh.

These are the same morons that fall for the "Your credit cards may have compromised....please click here and enter your numbers at our secure website to verify that you are not affected." emails.

Oh and the emails that look like "THiS Iz CittyBanc and you account hAv BIn H4cK3D! Clicke hear!"

Oh, ye gods, I just took this same call. The client opened and e-mail, from within his e-mail account, which said his e-mail account was suspended, opened the attachment (entitled "virus-removed.txt"), read it, THEN called the help desk to ask about it. Thankfully, our groupshield had already stripped the virus and substituted that .txt file.

I've gotten a bunch of these calls, too. My favorites are "you guys are running the antivirus thing on the email servers, so you obviously catch ALL the viruses, so I SHOULDN'T NEED to take care when opening attachments!!!!!!!!!11"
