Appears does work now. When I restarted the computer I got a pop up message
from corporate that my intivirus is working. i scanned and fond no virus
although the spy blocks shows 37 infected files. But no free cleaning up
program, asking $30.. I am not paying and I am not sure I could do anyway on
company computer.
I am using simantec corporate edition and we shall see. Tomorrow the IT guy is
coming, so he can fix it.

Have a great day.. Dad

Ahhh yes. I use remote desktop on one of my monitors while I'm at work, to keep my IRC and other junk on my home computer. A lot of the time I'll type something in IRC and enter it before the screen has redrawn, then I notice a shitload of typo's... so heh, i totally understand.

Oy. I totally feel your pain. Sometimes the only reason my parents call me is for tech support or to look something up on the Internet :o)

My mum does that... and I'm only a comp sci student and have like... no hardware fixing knowledge.

Even if you're just going to be a programmer, you should still take a hardware class or something. It's invaluable knowledge that will help in the long run. And it's good to be versed in more than one subject. Invariably, someone will assume you know it and ask for your help. Which is why I've picked up info on DVD players, projection systems, VCRs, and all that, even though it's not in my job description. People just assume if it's got electricity and they can't work it, that you'll know :o)

I did take a module way back in my first year which was apparently and "Introduction to Hardware and Software Engineering"... and that's the closest that my department has offered so far and looking at my final year modules, it looks like the closest that will ever get offered.

I'm hoping to end up as a florist (random and nothing to do with my degree I know, but it's more of an aim for when I'm about 40). I think living in a house of people who actually know stuff about hardware will help by imparting knowledge by osmosis :D
