Ask a silly question...
Jun. 4th, 2005 01:47 amI have upgraded to Mac OS10.4 and the driver for my Speedtouch DSL does not have an upgrade. They do not expect one til July 05. Do you have any solutions to this, as I do need fast internet connection.
Hello,
Thank you for your email.
If you require a connection to the internet urgently we suggest you roll OSX back to the previous version. Otherwise you can purchase a new modem or wait until a driver is released.

Do I need to spell it out for ya? I'm not going to write a fucking driver release myself!

Date: 2005-06-04 10:22 am (UTC)IIRC, All Macs come with a built in ethernet port, or at least they have for the past 10-12 years.
USB is a "the customer doesn't have an ethernet port, and doesn't want to install one" solution. There is a reason that when my grandmother's speedtouch died (stupid stingray *kick*), I pulled the NIC out of my test box (only reciecntly replaced that), and popped it into her machine so she could use a decient modem.
(note: the dsl purchase, as well as the operating purchase (WinME) were made comepletly without asking me anything, which wouldn't be such a big deal if I wasn't the only one that was asked to fix things)
