The Reality:

User: "I forgot my password. I always forget it if I don't use it every day. Change it."

The Dream:

Me: "Sorry, after four days, I forgot how to reset passwords. Guess you're screwed."

...and the hits just keep on comin' !

This is why the ability to reset passwords has been given to local managers in our sprawling organization. Anyone forgetting their password has to ask THE BOSS for a new one.

People suddenly start remembering their passwords.

I wish that would work here. Unfortunatly, half of the jackasses who are calling *are* the so-called managers...

We just refer the managers to THEIR managers, heh.

And the CEO and 2IC are cleverly rigged up in the security system as each other's bosses for the purpose of password resets. So really, no-one should be calling us at all.

I don't understand how anyone can forget their password when it's on a PostIt note attached to their monitor.

Once they get to Z application, that a password reset is not available for, and it takes some sort of data recovery that gets billed to their department (and a few days to complete), and a bitching from their manager that has to see the tab is picked up... they might remember passwords :).

According to Security Regulations, our users have to go to another building and pick their password up. A building with like ZERO parking, and usually not anywhere near them on base.

This was waived for a long time during a migration period, and we just went back to the rules. You make them go to another building ONCE, meaning they have to get off their lazy arse and walk... they stop forgetting.

YES.

Make it an inconvenience, and suddenly people's memories get a heck of a lot better. Imagine how much you're saving the company in mental healthcare!
