I would just like the world to know that I don't think that Footy Tipping Software is that important in a corporate setting, and don't appreciate bitchy emails that it isn't working.

I'm just hoping that they exclude all Footy Tipping cases from what we get penalised for, because that's just ridiculous. Especially the part where it's taking away time from legitimate, business related issues.

Heh.

I would say that it's not company approved software, and therefore in violation of company policy (if your company has such an item listed in it)

I know that it would be removed if I caught it on one of my computers.

Footy Tipping?

I probably could have gone my entire life without knowing that such a thing existed. I'd never even heard the term "footy tipping" until just now, and having heard it I'm embarassed for all of humanity. Couldn't they have at least come up with a better name than "footy tipping"?

Why would they penalize you for doing your job?

Delete the software from every computer within 10 days. I'd count that as 'fixed'.

Additionally, do the SLA's specify business-related calls, or some kind of scope? I'd hate to think you could get busted if someone called up and ordered a pizza at you, then didn't get one.

Ah, somewhat like what I deal with. We don't have a priority system, but nonetheless we must reach a "resolution" as quickly as possible and get the luser off the phone. Even if that resolution is "you need to download this off your crappy 56k line, call us back when it's done" or "yup, it's hosed, let's write the thing to zeroes". Doesn't mean the customer has to like it.

I'd personally make them include the business case for why we should remove this crap from their computer in order to justify it making the queue in the first place. If they aren't smart enough to write one, maybe they should explain to their manager why the ticket won't go through ;).

Dear god...

"footy tipping"?

The sarcasm dripping from my voice would be so concentrated it would melt the phone if one of my users called me about that.

Then again, I can get away with that. My job is to keep everything running, not accommodate ridiculous software.
