Irritated with lusers
Mar. 31st, 2005 10:02 pmAh, a nice customer today.
While doing technical support in a chat format, I had a customer come in stating this about a product that we work with and do support for.
Luser: Why doesnt my automatic update on [product] work any longer???
I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say. Was it Antivirus? Was it Anti-spyware or is it that he cannot get the files for the updates for the virus protection?
From that one statement I had to probe to find out what he was talking about.
Me: Are you receiving an error message?
Luser: No it just wont let me set it up.
Hmmm. No clue. Keep probing. Wait! He added something to the conversation!
Luser: I can run scans manually. I just cant set up schedueled scans
Sounds like Anti Virus right? That's what I thought. Then I started asking more questions about the AntiVirus function.
That's not what he wanted !!!
Duh! How could I be wrong? I even directed him to the Anti Virus page and scheduling scans function but he said that he couldn't schedule them and that was the problem! No error message. Nothing! It just don't work! [/his words]
WAIT! [buzzer] THAT IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG!
This is how the conversation ended. He didn't want any help with the Anti-virus portion. He just was so pissed off because he wanted help with...
Luser: Jesus Christ!!!! anti-spyware
Don't let the chat door hit your ass on the way out after leaving in a huff. Maybe if he was more articluate in what he wanted, I could've figured out what his sorry brain was trying to say.
I'm trying to figure out when Jesus had anything to do with Anti spyware.
Then later on that day, I was monitored on a chat that had a guy setting up Outlook Express and was receiving an error message.
He never mentioned that he was trying to set it up at work using their server.
He was in the computer department of the company and didn't know that he had to put in the work's server for outlook and using our incoming server. ::thumps head on desk:: And I get marked off for not asking "Where are you? Home or at work?" I'm so wrong to assum that someone is using this at home and should be using the Work outlook program for ....maybe....work?
WTF?!
