Just had to inform two of my coworkers that a million bytes is one megabyte, not 100 megabytes.
One I could excuse, but two? who have been working in the computer field for about 10 years EACH?
fer fuck's sake.

don't start quibbling megabyte measurement details, I know.
But that was hardly worth bringing up in this conversation.

Thats pretty bad. Although I get tripped up a lot myself when it comes to size. Usually over Megabits vs. Megabytes.

for reference: 1 megabits = 0.125 megabytes
so a 400 megabit/second connection transfers 50 Megabytes/second

The co-workers mentioned couldn't find the ballpark, took a wrong turn, and ended up taking in a little league game

I hate the bits/bytes thing. Of course, I know there's a million bytes in a megabyte (or thereabouts), so yeah, they're lame.
