I have a box of misc computer parts and I can't seem to find a good resource to find out what all this random RAM is. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good source for finding this info?
grab a spare computer, turn off the bios's Quick Start option. Disconnect the hard drive for good measure. Plug the RAM in one-by-one and see what it says for size when you turn on your computer.
If you need a resources for different memory types, that can be found on the web, for instance as part of this Memory upgrades guide (http://www.crucial.com/library/memorymodid.asp). But looking at any of those images, you'll be unable to tell what size each module is besides the numbers that are available on it. And of course, some RAM manufacturers are just plain bad about putting numbers in a useful place.
