Lotus Notes Help
Dec. 5th, 2002 11:46 amAnyone has a lotus notes book they want to give me? Or tell me a good name of a book so I can learn about it?
We are running Lotus 4.2 hoping to upgrade to 5 soon. I have never used this email client before and am looking for the nitty gritty info. ie: sig file scripts and other deeper stuff. I found a "quick reference lotus notes for dummies" book and that just wasn't what I was needing.
Thanks for any information in advance!!

Date: 2002-12-07 06:38 am (UTC)Upgrading to "R5" (Notes 5) really was a nightmare, since everyone used Notes for calendaring as well as e-mail (and occasionally other databases, but that wasn't such a pain). The biggest user problem was that calendar appointments didn't go through between platforms very well and sometimes got lost, and that users had problems switching over because the interface was so different.
R5 has a built-in sig file option which is fairly easy to use. (Much less confusing than the roundabout way to insert sigs in R4). I found the Lotus webpage very helpful and there were some support databases we had access to that were also very helpful. Unfortunately, as 1st level support, I wasn't too involved with the decisions process or knowing how to access these databases. I didn't have any books that I used, so I don't know what references to point you too.
Good luck!
