Date: 2005-01-14 03:44 am (UTC)I work at a university. What I have found is that having a master's or a PhD doesn't really matter. They write their dissertations on one topic and the rest is all theoretical mumbo jumbo. I'd take someone without even a bachelors who has actual hands on experience any day over someone with a masters or PhD in computer science.

Date: 2005-01-13 10:33 pm (UTC)I have an MS in Comp Sci and it's all theoretical stuff - networks, o/s, etc. No practical experience whatsoever in the classes. Doesn't surprise me. I do wonder - what the background is of the person who hired him?
