Earlier this afternoon, I recieved a message from one of our teachers. "please can you see why the students can not open a file in the j drive which they should be able too" (There are times I wish we'd not taught them about net send)

We have literally thousands of files on the J:\ drive (which is a shared drive that all the staff can write to, and the students have read only access). I never did find out which one she meant.

What? Students being able to open files as read only on the shared drive? Why would we?

No, the messenger service, IIRC. Haven't had the chance to verify it, though.

Only the staff have access to it - it's the quickest way of getting hold of us most of the time :)
