I recieved a call from a woman who claimed she couldn't couldn't get on the internet. I polled her cable modem. Signals good. We power cycled the modem and I had her check again.

"I still ain't online."

"So the page is telling you 'This page cannot be displayed.'"

"No, says it can't be found."

"Hmm, well, what page is it trying to go to, ma'am?"

"The homepage!"

Hit the mute button. *Sigh* Unmute. "Yes, ma'am, but what is the actual address that's typed in?"

"WWW .cablecompany.com.net"

"That's not a real address. Try typing in this address."

"Oh, that gives me a page."

What's is really bad about this call? This woman was a employee. I don't know if she just worked in a local office or what her position was, but I wanted to smack her. And the employees are asses when things stop working. Look, you aren't paying for it! Be glad you live in an area that offers our service and can get it free. How many of us in my building have my company's service? None! Because it's no where fucking near us, and you have the gall to complain about your free internet service!

When people in our company complain we send an e-mail to our supervisior who then e-mails her supervisior, who then e-mails the offending parties supervisior who then gets yelled at, fired or both.

I'm always amazed at how many people think that the internet is "down" when their home page won't load. It makes me want to scream sometimes. Either that, or force everyone to set their home page to about:blank.

I just had a customer who told me she couldn't get onto the internet and she couldn't load her homepage and she couldn't load our homepage.

I wonder, if I just slapped her repeatedly without telling her why, after a few weeks would she realise the error of her ways? Sounds worth trying anyway..
