charge 100$ and tell them that the problem was there was no power. if they give you the power supply and/or battery then ask them "oh, is there another problem i can help with?"

I can relate to that. In my case, however, they did leave the battery - just no AC adapter - then proceeded to go overseas, and expect the laptop fixed by the time they return. Which meant I had about two hours of battery life to get the thing working. Made it, but barely.
