Dec. 10th, 2004 09:28 pmHas anyone else noticed the ridiculous amount of people who end up with their network card disabled after installing XP SP2? Not to mention how XP lets them know that their (non existant) LAN has limited or no connectivity? *glares at microsoft*

Date: 2004-12-11 05:51 am (UTC)Then again, it's documented that SP2 screws up people's dialup connection speed too - we've had customers that connect at 49, install SP2, drop to 33. Remove SP2, back up to a connection speed of 49kps. Even microsoft don't even know wtf is causing it...

Date: 2004-12-11 06:55 am (UTC)we noticed the SP2 conn speed dropping a couple months ago, googled it, and found out that it's common...kinda. it seems sporadic. Personally i didn't notice it happen when I installed, but as I've said before, I'm running it upgraded from win98SE....
hmm.

Date: 2004-12-13 07:44 am (UTC)I do video editing, and thats what made me first look towards the OSX side, but the stability and ease of use (although higher hardware cost) is just so much nicer. Knowing I dont have to patch anything home except my linux server is so comforting after baby-sitting the Winboxes here at work with spyware, popups and a new security patch every 10 days.
:-)
*Rant off*
from what I've heard
