[identity profile] kyndig.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] techrecovery
Any chance we could remove the anonymous posting from this community? I'm not sure what it ads and is being used a vehicle for absurd flaming.

I think this is the friendliest community I'm involved with. The members are nice and supportive 99% of the time. I just feel sorry for the poor bastards who look here for tech help... because I really like dumping on them. Flames and trolls seem to be at a minimum, but I didn't even realize you could post anon here.

Some people might use it especially if they feel they'd be identified with work or are posting from work.

I don't use LJ at work myself, but I've encountered that viewpoint.

identified with work or are posting from work

then they should not be goofing off on LJ during work time on work resources.

There have been cases of people being fired for blogging, even if all such activity was done from home. There are valid reasons why one would not want to leave a trail of personally or professionally identifiable information.

Correction: not fired for blogging, but for the content of the blog.

Or both, but it's the content-based cases that hit the media. I think there are far more cases of the first that don't make it, since outright violation of terms of use aren't hot news.

I agree, if they're goofing off. There are positions where time comes aplenty, though, and it's not goofing off if there's nothing to do but sit there and say, wait for a phone to ring.

Regardless of my agreement, it doesn't change the fact that many people may desire anonymous posting for that reason.

But the few that use it for nefarious purposes ruin it for all of us.

I must be lucky then. Our company has very limited rules about internet usage. The basic rule is, you can't play games while on the phone with a customer. Any other internet activity is fine, so long as you take care of the customers when they call :D

You are lucky - in fact it sounds like the management has a clue.

Indeed.

It's a combination of both being too much to risk, and moreso lately, desire to spend as much time possible getting things done. I guess I take too much pride in my work at times, and I have plenty to do.
