Nov. 24th, 2004 12:25 amI work phone support for some cable company's Internet division. I seriously still can't figure out why people who call me up think I actually care. I only get $10/hr, no where near that amount that I would need to actually care about the customers problem.
I really don't care that your connections has been down for three days. Why didn't you call three days ago?
I really don't care that you are "loosing hundreds of dollars" by having to wait a day or two for a etch to come out there. I especially don't care since you are using a residential plan instead of a commercial plan.
I really don't care you have a high ping time. You lived in the middle of nowhere, I know because you are our customer and that's what we do. I am amazed you can even get on at all. Want a quick connection with a low latency? Move to a bigger city.
I really don't care that you are going to switch to DSL. Nobody here cares. The company is not going to go bankrupt without your forty bucks a month. I think we will survive.
I really don't care you don't believe me when I say your router is broke and won't send a tech out there to fix your lines. Go ahead and switch back to DSL, your broke-ass router is still going to get you the same issues. And I bet they won't care when you don't believe them and switch to whatever the hell else you can get out there in Podunk.
Silly customers.

Date: 2004-11-24 06:03 am (UTC)Especially when you have a line issue and it's not our fault. We've submitted the fault to your telco, who're going to try and fix it and it's not our service that's causing the issue.

Date: 2004-11-24 06:53 am (UTC)They like to take time to provision lines for DSL, and then incorrectly jumper them at the exchange, or screw something up. Then, they take their time fixing the fault. Now they need more techs.

Date: 2004-11-24 06:56 am (UTC)But just be glad you aren't living in podunk where there is only one tech support center in a 50-mile radius, so they can pay you whatever they feel like. They know there is nowhere else to go. I'm stuck with my whopping $8.50 and dreams of a $2.00 raise in January that'll never happen...
btw our one call center takes calls for 5 ISP's :(
