Why do they always wait til it's too late?
Nov. 5th, 2004 05:52 pmI do support for a multinational hardware company.
Support is 24/7 how ever the warehouse is 8-4:30 M-F
Today I get a call at 5:00pm (it's also Friday) from an irate lady who expects me to ship out the part that she ordered on Monday and was to be delivered Wednesday. How I'm supposed to do this is beyond me as I'm north of Lake Ontario and the warehouse is somewhere in TN. Not to mention our contract with the shipping company is for business days ONLY.
I made her happy by attempting to find her a loaner from a store. The store didn't have any but she was happy I tried.

Date: 2004-11-05 04:04 pm (UTC)there are people who call us on the weekend asking for a part to be shipped that day. "tech support is the only department open on weekends" - then they start bitching about how important their computer is and how it's been down for days...well..if it had been down for days, why didn't they call during BUSINESS HOURS?
you wouldn't call a bank on a weekend...
they expect everything from us just because we're in technology. i don't know where this mentality came from, but they think we're somehow different from every other company on the planet, and that we can work miracles...
grr...
