We require all traffic to go thru a proxy server, mainly so we can keep track of how much data people are using, and as a secondary concern, to stop people from accessing stuff they shouldn't access.. but really, we don't do that much to stop them. If it detects something that it thinks should be verboten, it sends them an email saying so.
We today someone replied saying "i'm sorry. the porn banners came up when I was looking for a crack for windows xp at home"
*groan* Ok, well you've just admitted to breaching pretty much all of our guidelines for system and internet use, except the denial of service ones, and really, if you try us, we can do you for that too.
And the funny thing? if he hadn't emailed us, we probably wouldn't have noticed :)
