Mozilla Firefox Question

Hey all - I am using Mozilla Firefox and whenever I view pages that are SHTML, it displays the source code instead. I have searched mozdev and google but I haven't found any answers or plugins yet. I even skimmed through the browser options 1 - Z. Anyone have any ideas?

Yup, using the most current version. I ran the update twice just to be sure. This isn't local to my network or machine either because I am having the same problem from the computer at work. It seems like there is definately an error when the browser tries to interpret the parsing from the corresponding server. WeIrD O.o

All pages? Ones off one server? Ones you've written?

Guesses: 1. The server is sending the wrong MIME type. 2. What's the DTD at the top of the page, if any?

All pages. Some of them are written in Python and they aren't displaying. I think its kind of funny because one of the FireFox support pages were written SHTML and that doesn't display correctly.

Unfortunately it isn't from one specfic server, that would at least be an explanation. However it is duplicated on multiple servers and someof the pages I have personally written. And unfortunately no DTD displays at the top of any page.

I am completely confused at this point.

This may sound silly, but are you using any themes? The last time I thought Mozilla was "broke", it turned out the theme was what was giving me the odd behavior. If you're not running with the standard default theme, try reapplying it, closing & reopening, and see how it looks then.

If that doesn't work, hit up bugzilla and see if someone has filed a bug report on it. If not, go ahead and file one.

Sounds like a problem with MIME types. Check your MIME type associations (tools -> options -> downloads) and make sure shtml files aren't set to something funky. The default install doesn't have any associations for .shtml files, so delete the association if it is there. Also, right click the page and choose view page info, and make sure the server is sending text/html as the mime type instead of text/plain.
