Date: 2004-07-29 08:45 am (UTC)TECH: Hello, technical support.
GUY: Yeah, I'm calling because my computer isn't working.
TECH: Okay... what's the problem?
GUY: It's not working.
TECH: Okay... describe what's on your screen right now.
GUY: It's blank. There's nothing there.
TECH: Is the monitor on?
GUY: I hit the power switch. That didn't change anything.
TECH: All right... take a look at the cables in the back of the monitor.
GUY: Okay. (messes around for a bit) Yeah, there's two of them.
TECH: Okay, one of those should be plugged into the wall. That's the power cord, right?
GUY: Yeah.
TECH: Now, the other one should plug into the back of the CPU. That's the tower.
GUY: Hang on, I need to get a flashlight.
TECH: A flashlight?
GUY: Yeah. It's dark behind the desk because the power's out.
TECH: Okay... I think I know what you need to do?
GUY: Really? Great!
TECH: I want you to unplug everything and put it all back in the original packaging.
GUY: Okay...
TECH: Then take the computer back where you bought it and tell them you're too stupid to own a computer.
