I've been sitting here since 9am (it's now almost 5) working by myself, because nobody else bothered to show up. That means I couldn't get food and I'm starving. My shift ended at 4, but since nobody's here I'm still working.

Someone better show up, because I'm not working till midnight.

It's really going to piss me off if anyone that came in late signs in for their regular time (our 'timeclock' is a sheet of paper, so it's not too difficult to cheat).

I cleaned off the whiteboards that still havehad my original job description on them from the first day I started working here in January 2002. I have the feeling that one of my managers will give me shit for it, saying there was important information written on them.

I've had many a day like that, working from sunup to sundown, all because I was the only one qualified or some such nonsense. Sorry to hear that your day sucks man, I wish I could offer some help.

If they do give you shit for it, just tell them you were wiping it off so they could work on a new job description for your replacement and officially put in your two weeks. :)

Eh, on the whiteboard write your start time and your finish time. Not sure where you are, but in AU it's LAW that you get a lunch break if you work over 5 hours. Mention that if it's the case where you are.

Then demand a payrise :)

In ON, if it's more than 8 you not only get a paid dinner break, but they have to pay for the food as well!

If you have specified hours, this is an easy one: leave. They may have a policy saying someone should be there at all times, but you can't control whether people show up or now. Additionally, it's illegal to be forced to work eight hours without a lunch break. In fact, employers are legally required to give you a 10 minute break every "x" number of hours (2?).

Even more additionally ( :P ), it is illegal for an employer to force you to work overtime (i.e. more than eight hours) without your consent. I trust no one asked you today.

I would highlight the job description on the board and walk out. But that's just me and I'm a sarcastic bastard. The logical part of me still says it's not unreasonable though. Good luck!
