My supervisor posted this story in our anecdotes file:


I was on the phone with an old guy troubleshooting error 691 and while I was trying to help him type in his password correctly, he told me he smelled something melting inside his computer and I was like "What do you smell?" and he was like "Yeah, I definitely smell something hot in there - do you think that is causing my problem?" and I was like, "Well.... I'm not sure, I mean, if your computer smells like it is on fire I guess that can't be good..." and he was like "Hang on for just a second.." and he hollers to his wife, "Etta, are you poppin' popcorn?" and she hollers back "Yeah, do you want some?" and he was like "Okay, never mind, it was not my computer...."

It is funny but, I have had the misfortue of talking to many clients like them. Things that make you say hmmm...

Mine had smoke coming out of the pc, but she had to get her thesus page off it. I told her sh would not be getting it off this system. She started to cry. I have to say it warmed my heart greatly...
