email from my manager. how dare he? no fucking way am i giving out my details to cuntstomers...

they can have my first name, my extension and my serial number, but not my name. ever. those things are enough to track me internally, but do not give my info externally. it's called privacy people. if a carbon error refuses to give me their last name i dont push it. and this is a business relationship. they have no need for my details.

i hate my manager.

I used to work for a company with a similar policy, but they had a loophole where you could give the customer a different surname, so long as you let your manager or whoever know what name that is.

Or how about you give your manager's friggen details?

I work for a federal contractor. We are required to give first and last name. Can't make it up either, because if they catch you, you can be fired.

Thats stupid, not only that it is dangerous. I mean I have had actual threats from customers before.

Luckily at my job it is policy that we do not have to at all.

Gack. Just Gack.

Personally, I would look for another job.

Some customers are real fucking wackos.

I guess I'm just lucky in that my name is so common that even if they do find out my name, they could never track me down.

Threaten to legally change your last name's pronunciation to Johnson. :)
