"Customer cannot view movies on pc"

This is not the kind of thing you expect to see at a corporate help desk.

"Sir, shouldn't you be working instead?"

[Forwards complaint to user's manager]

Nicely done, I think I should see what my supervisor thinks of that idea. The only problem would be with department heads/VPs having similar tech support "problems".

That's nothing.

I've gotten requests for help in posting pictures to matchmaker.com. Also "AOL INSTANT MESSENGER WON'T WORK! I NEED TO TALK TO MY FRIENDS!"

Some people need to be laid off. If they have time to be doing that constantly at work then they don't have enough to do.

Hee. Although admittedly, sometimes we DO have users who legitimately need to be able to view movies. Usually they're of the media player variety, though, not actual DVDs.

The best one I ever got was the time I had a guy arguing quite vehemently over email that fantasy football was NOT a game, it was like stocks, and so should be allowed through our content filtering software. I think we DID allow it finally, if only because we allowed our own fantasy leagues in for the IT department. In what world is fantasy football not a game?

.... and we won't mention the heavy use our dvd burner in the IT department gets, will we....

Oh lord, this reminds me of the time that I had to deploy some scripts to install some patches for XP machines and consequently this would remove the games (as they should have been from the get-go, but the images still included them.) I remember I was in the back office replacing the fuser for a printer and I overheard this conversation:

Dumbass #1: Aww, the games aren't here anymore.
Dumbass #2: That's ok, I know a way to bring them back.
Dumbass #1: (trying to shush her up so I wont hear) Hey, that computer gut is in the back.
Me: (from the back) Yes I am, and I would appreciate it if you wouldn't tamper with the PCs. Thank you.

I mean, God forbid you do something else besides play Solitare, people!!!

Go ahead, kill solitaire.

They'll just go play it on neopets.com like some of the management around here does =/
