This is from email support from a user that I have "corresponded" with a few times. He has a NIC that isn't supported in Win2K, and guess what... he just "upgraded" to Win2K.

What the hell is wrong with you people!?! How can you tell me that the NIC I paid $60+ dollars for is useless, that you won't help me secure a usable NIC, and then expect me to be satisfied with your response!?! (personal note, the company requires we say "I hope that you are satisfied with the support that you have received today". This pisses people off)

DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!! From this moment on I will make a point of cursing
the name of your company to all I meet! I wish I was speaking to you in person, so I could beat your ass that aloof, "let them eat cake" attitude! You sir, and the people you work for are nothing short of criminal scum! I hope you are a lonely, bitter little man for the rest of your days! Goodbye!

If you are fucked enough to not be able to read basic english and/or to know to inquire about compatibility with new OS' you probably deserve what you get. I hope that you are satisfied with the support that you have received today."

Would making NICs work or advising on purchases be even slightly related to your company's role? ie, you do tech support for windows in general?

I am reminded of someone who asked for his computer to be hooked up to our departmental network. We couldn't get the card to work, and since it was a privately owned machine, fixing it wasn't our problem. My comment to him in explaination, half jokingly, was "what were you THINKING buying a computer from a company called ShamTek??"

yeah.. making his NIC work is part of my job. I didn't advise him to go buy a new one. I merely said the one he has now will not work with the OS he has installed. He can take that anyway he wants. And no.. mostly I am the Linux tech here. Not sure why that email got routed to me, but I just looked up the model and said the facts
