Me - What version of Windows or Macintosh are you running?
Cusotmer - I'm running Windows 98 NT
Me - You are running 2 computers, sir?
Customer - No. I have Windows 98 NT
Me - Do you have a partitioned hard drive?
Customer - No. It's Windows 98 NT
Me - So is it NT or 98?
Customer - Both!

While starting up the customer's computer started in DOS and then when it loaded up in Windows it asked to install his Ethernet Card. We cancelled all Hardware Wizards therefore anything that it was asking for it wouldn't install seeing as we hadn't installed it. At any rate, we checked the device manager and not one single thing had conflicts in his Windows 98 NT machine. LMAO.

Eventually the customer got pissed off and disconnected.

SYN!!!

Haha...

well, since he actually HAD a device manager...

98.

I can't remember how many times I had people swear they were running Windows 97 though... (office 97 was around then, customers are easily confused.)

I *still* get a lot of those.

Along with "Windows 2000 Millennium Edition".

And one the other day that swore up and down that she had 95, when it was in fact XP.

My coworker once had a caller who swore up and down that he was a developer for Windows 93, so don't try and feed him a line of BS.
