Well looks like a good place to rant!


What is it with the average Joe, heading over to spend his bonus on the latested fandangled piece of hardware, when he 1. doesn't even understand the technology (but it does thats email thingy and can surf da intrawebby thingy) grrr

me) Hi tech support how can I help you?
Joe) I bought this phone that does that gps (gprs) thingy that lets me check my email and stuff, can you help me?
me) sure sir, can you start by going to such and such a menu
Joe) wheres that, all I got is a blank screen
me) have you turned the phone on sir?
joe) what this is new technology, I have to still turn it on?

or the worst call you can get when dealing with a mobile phone...

Joe) yes my mobile cant make any calls at the moment
me) no problem sir, can you please turn your phone off and back on and we will check it out
Joe) sure ...... beep beep beep beep beep.

Sounds like the first luser is talking about a Blackberry. I work a lot with those things, and I thank god that so far I haven't come across anyone like that.

Blackberry is one yes, alas our wonderful corporate geniuses decided that more phone/PDA's should be out there... heres a few:

HAndspring have a range of "treo's"

Pocket PC:
Qteck 7070
O2 XDA and XDA II

Symbian:
Ericsson P800 / P900
Nokia 7650, 3650, 7600
