.. when someone doesn't follow instructions, or when someone is just constitutionally incapable of following them?

Mail client rejecting passwords for an account (about 15 minutes of back and forth and dead air while the guy sits there doing nothing, while I think he's doing something I told him to do, before we establish that). Fine, take him to the account webmail page and try to sign in there .. another 5-10 minutes of instruction, silence, did you do that?, did I do what? .. ::headdesk:: .. ok, I get "invalid username or password" there.

Great. Not my problem. Send him to the chat support for the ISP and, because I know he's "special" that way, stay with him until he is *actually in queue waiting for a chat rep* before I let him go, and schedule a callback.

Call him back, and same results, can't sign into the webmail page. OK, sir, was the ISP chat able to help you? No. What did they tell you about the account? Nothing. Did you actually have a chat conversation with them? When? In the window you were in when I was last talking to you. **Oh, I closed that when we got off the phone.**

(You CLOSED THE WINDOW? You were in queue to the only people on earth who can fix what's blocking you from getting email and you ABANDONED THE CHAT when you got off the phone with me?! WTF did you expect to happen, you fscking--)

So I get to call him back **again** after a much-delayed lunch (which itself is partly due to his inexplicably profound stupidity) and, most likely, find out **again** that he's fumbled something somewhere along the line and is once **again** sitting there patiently waiting for me to not be able to help him. And bitch at me some more about how long it's taken to fix the thing that is, **again**, NOT MY FSCKING PROBLEM, and NOT IN MY FSCKING SCOPE, when if he had the ability to follow instructions slightly more complicated than breathing and pissing mostly in the urinal at the same time, this would have been fixed in about 10 minutes, this morning.

There is drinking in my future, tonight. ::facepalm::
