Well... going into the nice holiday weekend I start having internet problems. Slowness, etc. Reloading the router helps, but only for a few minutes. Checking the console, I see %SYS-3-CPUHOG messages. Out of the blue, something has gone tits up with the DNS services on my c2600.
no problem - I can copy the config onto a spare unit and worry about re-flashing the corrupt image on this one later.
Problem - 15 minutes after getting the spare up and loaded it is giving the same error. Two routers and two different versions of 12.4 IOS and same error. Hmm... "might not be hardware or corrupted IOS".
Upgrade the original to a 12.4-23 version of IOS. It seems to work... then I find a CPUHOg message on the console. Crap. Not as many, and not as fast, and the internet hasn't fallen over yet, but... If this has shown up on two routers with three different versions/revs of 12.4 IOS, then it's going to be affecting more than just me. I wonder how long till it shows up on Google and what search terms will be needed to find it?
I sure hope it's not a Comcast change/problem. Crap.
I have to have reliable internet or I can't work from home tomorrow. Fuck me gently with a motorized defoliating appliance.
