I want to cry for my recently deceased laptop.

I bought it used a year ago, then the power/speaker cable went out. Meh, I thought, since I never used either. HP had another button that turned it on as well, and i used headphones. (Everyone was charging $40 for a ribbon cable. Screw it)

Eventually I got fed up with partitions screwing with me, and when i got it back from my friend who had to unlock it for me and back up my data, I sold it.

A week later, I got this call from the buyer.

Dear Users.

Complaining to our supervisor that we "didn't help" you is one thing.
Complaining to our supervisor that we didn't help you because you never contacted us in the first place is another.

The problems you're having won't fix themselves, and we can't help you if you don't talk to us. There are several ways to contact the Helldesk. Phone, Pager, Email, hell, even Windows Messenger these days. You can even stop up if you're so inclined. We have candy.

But for the love of $deity, for fuck's SAKE, stop complaining about us if you didn't call us first!

To the Dark Side?

I'm actually siding with Microsoft on this one.

Ewww... I feel so dirty...

"BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Microsoft on Thursday issued a public letter defending its "black out" tool to stamp out piracy in China and attempting to clear up "misunderstandings" over the measure.

The software giant's program turns computer "desktops" black if the installed software fails a validation test, but it has been met with fury by Chinese computer users and renewed complaints over the price of genuine software."

But hey, that has been a good argument against Microsoft for years; it costs too bloody much for their products. Drop the price to a reasonable level and more people will buy the products.
