I work for a medium sized retailer.  We support registers, location PCs, network printers and the like.  We got an email from one of our location managers wanting to know why we hadn't emailed the scanner to her yet.  We are talking a tabletop scanner to use for scanning documents.  She really thought that we would be able to EMAIL the scanner to her.  I had to deal with her again today.  The concept of Windows, desktops, icons, etc are completely foreign to her and I doubt it will ever get better.

What's really funny is the CFO comes running around the corner yelling, "Well, when the hell are you guys going to email that scanner to her! And when are you going to be able to email the registers to the locations so we don't have to pay FedEx to deliver them?!?!"

He was kidding of course but it was funny because he usually gets like that when he is mad and initially I thought he was serious.

I am seriously amazed at how people really just say things that even if you're not that savvy, are just plain stupid.

Boss: "Why do you look like you've just tasted earwax?"
Me: "I had to help a user fill out a form."
Boss: "Which one? I'm reviewing that section of the intranet over the weekend."
Me: "Parking access."
Boss: "That's not an electronic form."
Me: "No."
Boss: "What did she need help with?"
Me: "I had to tell her to read the question, fill in the box and repeat until the end of the form."
Boss: "That took you fifteen minutes?"
Me: "She lost her place a couple of times and had to start again."
Boss: "Strewth!"
Me: "And now you look like you've just tasted feet."

Copied and pasted with NO changes.

"Could not sign user '%s' on due to incorrect target"

(Yes, there was a %s in there)

Yes, this is obviously a permissions problem.

Yes, it's OBVIOUSLY that I should call the generic help line and talk to them for twenty minutes before I can get them to transfer me to the right department (where I get the MOST JUNIOR GUY they have who JUST got hired...)
