The nuts are out today:

1. Had a user who is travelling in Asia. Laptop tanked, so he decided to send it back to me in the US via DHL. User currently is on a plane flying back to the US, laptop is stuck in Asia. No idea why or when it will ship.
2. Had a user request a second monitor for her pc. We only provide one monitor per user. I said no. User then asked if she could bring one from home. I said if it damages your pc you are liable.
3. Mgmt decided to put the responsibility of publishing our office newsletter (composed in Front Page) to a user with 0 Front Page knowledge. I know it's not a hard program to learn, but we're going to be flooded with questions from him.

da fuck???

found this call log while searching for something else:

"23/04/2004 9:23 - Call started by **tech**
**machine type**
Call update - "REFNUM"
Cust called for tech's shoe size.
23/04/2004 9:27 - Call closed by **tech**

wibble.

IV

(PS. the reason was that the site was a secure site, and required steel-toed footwear, even for visiting onsite techs)

Gah...

Look you silly bugger if you escalate a ticket up the chain and you've done some diagnostics and identified what the problem is it would be nice to actually tell me so I can fix the problem rather than spending five minutes digging around in the system to see what if anything is broken.

Trouble tickets, a read only medium.

Helped out my old job tonight and was reminded of just how much fun it is to clean up a major spyware infestation.

...which reminds me of what I like about my new job. When shit happens, I just have to report what kind of shit and who dumped it. I don't have to clean it up.

Fun...

So one of my calls today was from one of our on-site guys. Apparently, the tech who set up the dispatch for parts didn't bother to update the contact information, and subsequently, our technician ended up calling someone who used the computer about two years ago.

Note: computer is owned by Department of Homeland Security.

You know how hard it is to track down a Homeland Security agent?

Try it sometime. I'm waiting for the black helicopters to descend on my apartment for all the phone calls to Immigration and DOJ facilities I made today x_x
