Does anyone have a print magazine they like? This would be for someone who does casual builds for friends and family, mostly mild gameboxes or budget net-surf-and-email machines, and I just wanna keep up with what's current with something I can carry around, read anywhere I like and throw away when I'm done with it. Preferably something that isn't just poorly-disguised advertisements. Anyone? MaximumPC? Or one of the others? Thanks for suggestions, wisecracks also accepted = )

If it's print, it's not current.

Mmm, dead-tree format.

I've got an EVO and I loveitloveitloveit! The screen is HUGE compared to the iPhone and others. The browser is actually usable for most web sites.

And Sprint's cheaper than any of the other phone companies, even with the EVO's $10 Awesome Phone Fee Premium Data Plan.

I still get my model railroad mags in dead-tree format. Also, i will never let go of my tactile love of bound books. The smell of the ink and glue, the feel of the paper; take that e-reader and stick it up your ass.

It would probably help if you posted where you live.

People recommending a Nepalese magazine won't help you if you live in Uruguay, nor vice-versa.

dead-tree versions of tech mags are guaranteed to be out of date by printing. why bother? read a book.

Wish I could help here, but for the large part, I get the vast majority of my tech news from reading sites such as The Register (aka El Reg), Tom's Hardware, and other hardware/software news feeds.

MaximumPC.com is up to date and a great resource I think. I like the magazine, I still like having a mag to flip through, but with the addition of the website I think it is KickAss.

I like PopSci, personally, but of course it *is* out of date as it is printed.

I get a whole bunch of free tech magazines. Computerworld, Networkworld, InformationWeek and Processor. My SO also gets Wired and PC World, but they suck rocks.

I get the Ars Technica blog delivered to my Kindle. It's only 99 cents a month and is totally worth it.

I also get the Kindle edition of the San Jose Mercury News. They have fairly good IT coverage (being in Silicon Valley and all); it's $5.99 a month for the Kindle version, $2.50 a week for the dead tree version.

My favorite IT news source is the Register, but they don't have a print edition nor a Kindle edition.
