Toshiba Fail.

Toshiba, having realized that their Satellite laptops are made out of wet cardboard soaked in the tears of small children, have decided that effective this week, Satellites can only be repaired in their depot. This means authorized service providers (like my employer) are no longer allowed to touch them.

And there was much rejoicing.

Same for my company Portege R600. Beast of a machine, £100 more than the equivalent MacBook, and appears to have a case made of tinfoil and clingfilm. Those of us stuck with one would looove the things if only they were made of something stronger than wet cardboard.

Our moment of rejoicing at my company was when we stopped buying Toshibas altogether. The moment of jubilation was when we finally got the last of them out of inventory and into the garbage heap where it belonged!

The sad thing is they used to be absolute fucking guns. You couldn't kill them! I've got a TE200 that's about 12 years old and runs 98 and still goes like an absolute fucking trooper.

I am so excited about this information. I just told my shopmates and everyone has run off to check their email in hopes of an announcement that we no longer have to fix the fucking things.

We never got any official notification that I'm aware of. Just a notice that "you are not authorized to service this machine, call to set up depot repair". So we emailed our rep, and she told us that effective this week, Satellites were now depot only for warranty repair.
