...someone working at a place called Fiber Optic Supply would know what a GBIC is.

You would also think that someone somewhere in an area the exact size, shape, location and population density of the Denver metropolitan area would carry at least a GBIC or two.  I swear, I'd have an easier time finding plasma manifold couplings for a warp core containment field modulator.

Oh, please. *Everybody* has plasma manifold couplings for a warp core containment field modulator laying around in a closet. The GBIC, however, is a rare beast, and must be hunted very, very quietly...

Actually, it needs to be hunted vewwy vewwy qwietwwy.

Hmm, then again, I've had ISP's tell customers that they need their OS vendor to tell them what ports to use for POP and SMTP, so the assumption that someone who works in a particular specialty might know about probably one of the most crucial devices in that specialty is not necessarily a valid one.

There's such a thing as being highly trained and still not having the ability to think one's way out of a flaming paper bag full of dog feces. And I'm still convinced that formal training and the ability to think don't correlate positively, and in fact, may even correlate *negatively*.

But yes, it would make sense that they would at least know what one is and that it's used with the products they sell ..

I have four WCCFM's sitting on my desk if you need one.

If you use the smaller plasma manifold couplings and soften them with 6 hours exposure to wonderflurium or a similar source, they can often be moulded by hand to meet your need. Be sure to put the warp side towards the light source though, or you could end up with an unwelcome Thermian reaction.

Or just use a Turboencabulator:

For a number of years now work has been proceding in order to bring to the crudely conceived idea of a transmission that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automaticaly synchronizing cardinal grammeters. Such an instrument is the turbo encabulator.

Now basically, the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motions of conductors and fluxes, it is produced by the modial interaction of magnetoreluctance and capacitive directance.

The original machine had a baseplate of prefabulated Amulite, surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the pentametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzel vanes so-fitted to the ambifacient lunar wane shaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented.

The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots in the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a nonreversible trem'e pipe to the differential girdlespring on the up-end of the grammeters.

The Turbo Encabulator has now reached a high level of develement, and is being successfully used in the operation of nofer trunnions. Moreover, whenever a barescent skor motion is required, it may be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocating dingle arm to reduce sinusodial depleneration.

Just whatever you do make sure you don't bounce it.

For all your space travel needs.

We only have a few systems that use GBIC modules, and those were EOL'ed nearly a decade ago.

The rest of our systems use proper PCI-X or PCI-E FC HBA's

Still, if you have a contract, we can supply the parts. Though I've yet to ever need to order one for anyone.
