More a city council suck than a techsupport suck, but it's related to a techsupport issue.

I was told I had to go to the Eircom datacentre in Dublin. The address is Kingswood Ave, Citywest, Dublin 24. I type Kingswood Ave into my GPS and it tells me it knows where to go.

2.5 hours later I arrive in Dublin, on Kingswood Avenue in front of a big fucking empty field and spent a confused 20 minutes wondering where in good gravy the datacentre had gone to.

Turns out the mouthbreathers in the Dublin street planning department decided to give TWO streets virtually identical names: Kingswood Ave, Citywest (an industrial estate) and Kingswood Ave (a residential estate) - and to add more confusion, they're both within a few miles of each other so they both share the same district code, Dublin 24.

GARFAHRGABLE!&^@£&"!

That's like here. There's an Ashley Road outside of town and an Ashley Street the next town over, and postal carriers and FedEx drivers STILL mix the two up.

Aren't there two train stations in London that have the same name - and are like a block away from each other?

The only one I can think of like that is Charing Cross - the National Rail and Underground stations are some distance apart (the nearest LU station to Charing X National Rail is Embankment).

driving around in Tallaght isn't very safe, you should be glad you survived to write this post :)

but yeah, driving in Ireland is a general pain in the ass - road tolls are everywhere, and there are never any street signs in the cities.

Road tolls are everywhere? On my last trip over a couple of years ago the only toll I saw was going into the city.

I live near Chicago, now *there's* some toll roads.

There's the M50 toll, which recently became automatic, so no more mad traffic there anymore, and on every other major road, there are more tolls

Wow, that's too bad. Did they promise them to only be "temporary" like our politicians?

OT, are you from Tullamore? I've still got family in Moate so have been through Tullamore a few times.

Ouch--at least yours were distinguished by the 'Citywest' label.

Here, I can think of at least three streets that are 'split' (presumably, they were originally continuous streets, but later construction/replanning 'broke' them into segments)..including the one I live on, which made for great fun when I was getting my cable internet hooked up initially. Poor installer guy got lost trying to look for my place on the *other* segment.

In Escondido, California, there are THREE West Citracado Parkways, none of which even remotely connect to one another.
